For five years I know the name and the legend. I can’t say when I first heard Mom mention you, but at 11th grade she finally managed to take me for a training session. I can’t recall the exact exercise, only that we crossed the road to the long running circle track and you said to me: watch what they do and go with it. I did – and I was hooked. Every week, several times a week, hours every time, no matter the pressure in school, in social life, in swim classes, I would show up for workout as energetic as you know me. Over time, exercise also became quality time with Mom. As you used to say, a parent sets an example for a healthy lifestyle and instills in their child the workout spirit. Sports became part of our life and soul. Your technique and instruction have shaped me, in spirit and physique, and it is to you that I owe my achievements in the army. I can assure you that I will pass along the tradition, to the soldiers I instruct and later on to the people I meet in life. And, naturally, hold on to it always myself.
It’s hard to think of Mondays and Thursdays with no Kosta. No more “Mom, are you coming to Kosta?” You’ve become a codename: Kosta = pain = hardworking= energy = fun!
Thank you for the instruction, the care, the personal investment, and most of all for the empowering support. Seeing you in the crowd at my officers’ graduation ceremony made me very proud. “See? You got me this far!”
Your support in my personal life, when I was chosen to join the IDF rescue mission to Nepal following the earthquake, was an amazing gesture that I was not expecting.
Thank you so much – you deserve every word written here. I wish you luck wherever you turn. I hope you remember us when you are far away, no longer complaining about the Mediterranean heat. I hope you remember us ordinary people from Maccabim-Reut-Modiin waiting for you here. We want you to return but we also want you to make it out there.
With greatest affection,
